Flying Human Disco Balls
Controlling the light show with movement as Flying Human Disco Balls. Aerial dancers embody the light show and shower the space with reflections.
Flying Human Disco Balls bring aerial shows to the next level and create a spectacular WOW-moment.
Our performances are copyright and/or trademark protected, keeping them a unique highlight!
High in the air, the Flying Human Disco Balls are breathing disco balls that slowly come to life, sending dazzling reflections across the space like a classic disco ball, only far more dynamic!
The unique, handcrafted mirror suits that these bedazzled creatures are wearing give them the control of the light show.
The Flying Human Disco Balls are a part of our Living Light Shows concept.
The Original Aerial Mirror-Suit Act
The Flying Human Disco Ball is an original concept created by Ceciel van Slobbe, founder of Be The Disco Ball. Since 2018, the company has been crafting mirror suits for its performances, taking them into the air for the first time in 2022. Combined with the lighting design, the flying mirror suit creates a distinctive visual spectacle.
The concept’s visual identity is trademark-protected and has been featured on Hans Zimmer’s world tour.
‘Interstellar’ Performance
Hans Zimmer - The Next Level - World Tour
Inspired by the music and the story of Interstellar the performance explores floating and weightlessness while shifting between dynamic movements and moments of surrender.
Performance design by BE THE DISCO BALL
for Hans Zimmer World Tour 2025/2026.
‘Ceciel searched for a balance of movements and light-effects to merge with the music and the story behind it. Reflecting light rays extending movements beyond the body, making the endless space visible the way BE THE DISCO BALL does.’

Booking the Flying Act
Every performance concept is developed as a whole: the handcrafted mirror suit, the choreography, and a programmed time-coded light show.
We bring our unique technical set-up, designed especially to maximize the light effects and ensure performer, music and beams of light move as one.
The flying act can also be combined with performers on the ground: flying and dancing Human Disco Balls in one big show, immersing the audience in a dazzling display of light from every direction.
Good to know
The performers are suspended from a certified rigging point using approved equipment installed and operated by a qualified rigging team.
Choreographies run 4 to 10 minutes; for longer shows performers alternate.
We work together with your venue or technical producer on the rigging, and ideally a booking is confirmed around three months ahead, so team, lights and rigging are arranged in time.

Frequently asked questions
Who created the flying human disco ball?
The Flying Human Disco Ball was created by Ceciel van Slobbe, founder of Be The Disco Ball. The mirror suits have been handmade in our own atelier since 2018, and in 2022 we took the act into the air. The concept is trademark protected.
What does the venue need for the flying act?
Flying Human Disco Balls require a certified rigging point attached to a load-bearing ceiling structure or truss. We work exclusively with certified equipment and qualified professionals, supported by a trusted network of suppliers worldwide. Ideally, our team coordinates all technical requirements directly with your venue or technical producer..
Can it be performed indoors and outdoors?
Our flying shows can be performed both indoors and outdoors, provided a suitable rigging structure is available. At outdoor festivals, performers are typically rigged from a stage truss. Alternatively, a custom performer-flying system can be installed to to move them horizontally into the performance area.
Can we choose the music?
We have a range of existing choreographies, set to a wide range of musical genres, or let us create a fully bespoke show performed to a different piece of music.
How many performers do we need?
From a single performer to a larger cast. One flying performer can command even the largest spaces, as demonstrated on Hans Zimmer’s world tour. The ideal number depends on your production, venue and rigging possibilities, and we’ll advise you on the best configuration.
Where are you based?
We are based in the Netherlands, and we perform worldwide.
